25 Fijians enter basic diplomacy training program – FBC News

Young Fijians were encouraged to learn the art of diplomacy and negotiation.

Today, 25 Fijians joined the Basic Diplomacy Training Program of the United Nations Association of Fiji.

Pacific Island Development Forum Secretary General Solo Mara says the course aims to foster the development of skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, debating and public speaking.

Mara says programs like this will give the region a stronger voice in the future.


“Especially for us small island developing states in the Pacific Islands region, we alone face an uphill battle to get noticed at the conference on bilateral interests in global politics. But together, on a multilateral platform, we can amplify our voice so that our views are heard and recognized.
