In an effort to fill a gap in mental health and psychosocial services in Malawi, a consortium of Ticia Counseling Center, DMI-St John the Baptist University and the Ministry of Health have established online counseling and counseling courses. psychotherapy and HIV testing and counseling.

Institutions have also introduced weekend courses at their training campuses.

Malawi is one of the countries suffering from a severe shortage of psychosocial support providers.

Ticia Counseling Center executive manager Patricia Singini said their training aims to provide candidates with the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies on best counseling and psychotherapy practices and that participants will receive certificates upon completion of the course. Training.

“The training attracts candidates from a variety of backgrounds ranging from nurses of all settings, HIV and AIDS providers and counselors, police officers, social workers, pastors, teachers, clinicians and all related fields. We started yesterday for weekday and online classes and we’re ready to start weekend classes, ”Singini said.

She reiterated that the minimum qualification for entering college is the Malawi School Education Certificate (MSCE) and a relevant professional qualification in a related field.
