Southampton fans have requested that Nathan Tella and Thierry Small be involved in the senior squad after both impressing the B squad on Sunday lunchtime.

The duo were both featured on the scoresheet as Dave Horseman’s side beat Aston Villa 4-0 in Premier League Two Division Two.

Tella opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 24th minute at the Saints ‘training ground in Staplewood before Small scored to double the hosts’ lead at the end of the first half.

A brace from Lewis Payne then doubled the score as Southampton ran out of emphatic winners.

Midfielder Tella, 22, has 29 appearances for the Saints to his name, the most recent being Tuesday night when he played 67 minutes for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

He has been on the sidelines for the first team this season having played six total times and was on the scoresheet in the 8-0 loss to Newport County in August.

Small meanwhile, has yet to play for the Saints who joined Everton this summer.

Both players are clearly making their mark at the youth level and here is what fans have to say on social media about their last posting.

I can not wait to see it [Small] have a first team action next year. Tella is also playing a blinker, no shock there though.

Supporting the B team as they need results while giving Tella the playing time and confidence he needs to regain his pre-season form?

It is obvious.
