New Delhi: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, will virtually lay the foundation stone for the new building of the Composite Regional Center (CRC) for Skills Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment people with disabilities in Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh on May 2, 2022.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Km. Pratima Bhoumik, Smt. Anila Bhediya, Minister of Women and Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of Chhattsigarh, Shri Santosh Pandey, MP, Rajnandgaon Constituency, Chhattisgarh, Mrs. Anjali Bhawra, Secretary, DEPWD, MSJ&E, GOI, Dr. Raman Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Rajnandgaon and Former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Shri BVRam Kumar, Director (Offg.) NIEPID, Secunderabad and Shri Kumar Raju, Director CRC, Rajnandgaon will be present on the occasion.

Aids and devices, educational learning material kits will also be distributed to 500 eligible beneficiaries at a total cost of Rs.33,28,681 during the function.

The Composite Regional Center (CRC) for Skills Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Rajnandgaon was established by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India in Rajnandgaon in June 2016. Since then, the CRC has been operating in a temporary facility with 15 rooms allocated by the district administration to provide clinical services, administration and store.

The Institute has been allocated 5 acres of land by the Government of Chhattisgarh for the construction of a permanent building at Thakurtolla, Rajnandgaon.

With an estimated cost of Rs.24.28 Crores, the proposed new building will have a plinth area of ​​4,105.22 square meters for various services including Assessment, Therapeutic Services, Psychology, Special Education, early intervention center for people with disabilities, vocational training, long term and short courses, administration, conference room, Respite, Bed and Breakfast, etc.

The building will also have the substation, fire fighting system, fire alarm system, elevators, street lighting, DG sets, CCTV system, UPS, EPABX system, LAN network accessories and STP.

The services provided by the Center are early identification and intervention, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, physical medicine and rehabilitation, psychological intervention, prosthetics and orthotics, speech therapy and hearing, special education, vocational training, vocational training, distribution of assistive devices, teaching, learning and communication materials, social work, job placement, outreach services, human resources development, research and development, online Kiran Mental Health Helpline (MHRH) run by CRC, Rajnandgaon for Chhattisgarh State, regular distribution of assistive devices for physically disabled people including artificial limbs, teaching and learning (TLM) Kits for people with intellectual disabilities and BTE hearing aids for people with hearing loss as part of the ADIP programme.
